Thursday, May 31st from 5:30-8:30 at Lighterwood Farm (535 Speight Rd, West End, NC, 27376). Open to private landowners. Cost is free to attend, thanks to grant funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
This evening workshop will focus on growing season burns: burning with the additional spring and summer daylight gives us more opportunities to accomplish our management and can be highly effective for longleaf restoration (we will do a small demonstration burn if weather permits). We also will discuss pinestraw raking, focusing on methods that can help reduce pests and at the same time enable us to be good stewards of the forest.
