SALT holds a conservation easement on a 532-acre tract located between Raeford and Fort Bragg. The land, which is known as the Hoke Community Forest, is the first community forest in the Southeastern United States. Hoke County owns the land but the forest is open to the community. There are several trails on the property ranging from less than half a mile to almost four miles, with some that wind along creeks that offer a dynamic view of the longleaf pine ecosystem. The land includes parking and restroom facilities, an outdoor classroom, camping sites, and a canoe/kayak launching site on Rockfish Creek.
Good For: Bird-watching, camping, kayaking, exploring, canoeing, hiking, walking, running, biking, horseback riding, and strollers
